How to Get Your Discord Application ID

Follow this step-by-step guide to obtain your Application ID for BenthonCord

To use custom Rich Presence with BenthonCord, you'll need a Discord Application ID. This guide will walk you through the process of creating a Discord application and obtaining your unique Application ID.

Step 1

Go to Discord Developer Portal

Open your web browser and navigate to the Discord Developer Portal at https://discord.com/developers/applications

If you're not already logged in, sign in with your Discord account credentials.

Step 2

Create a New Application

Click on the blue "New Application" button located in the top right corner of the page.

This will open a dialog box where you can set up your new application.

Name Your Application

In the dialog box, enter a name for your application. This name will appear in your Rich Presence status.

Tip: Choose a descriptive name like "My Custom RPC", "Gaming Status", or whatever represents what you'll be displaying.

After entering the name, check the box to agree to Discord's Developer Terms of Service and Developer Policy.

Create the Application

Click the "Create" button to create your new Discord application.

You'll be redirected to your application's dashboard page.

Locate Your Application ID

On your application's dashboard, you'll see the Application ID near the top of the page, under the application name.

The Application ID is a long number (18-19 digits) that uniquely identifies your application.

Copy Your Application ID

Click the "Copy" button next to the Application ID to copy it to your clipboard.

Alternatively, you can manually select and copy the ID number.

Important: Keep this ID safe! You'll need it to configure BenthonCord.

Add Rich Presence Assets (Optional)

If you want to display custom images in your Rich Presence, navigate to the "Rich Presence" tab in the left sidebar.

Click on "Art Assets" and upload your images. You can add:

  • Large Image: Main image displayed in your presence (1024x1024px recommended)
  • Small Image: Smaller icon overlay (256x256px recommended)

Give each uploaded image a unique name (lowercase, no spaces). You'll use these names in BenthonCord to display the images.

Use Your Application ID in BenthonCord

Now that you have your Application ID, open BenthonCord and follow these steps:

  1. Launch BenthonCord on your computer
  2. Navigate to Settings or Configuration
  3. Paste your Application ID into the designated field
  4. Configure your Rich Presence details (status text, images, etc.)
  5. Click "Apply" or "Start RPC" to activate your custom presence

Your custom Rich Presence should now be visible on your Discord profile!

Troubleshooting

My Rich Presence isn't showing up

  • Make sure Discord is running on your computer
  • Check that "Display current activity as a status message" is enabled in Discord Settings
  • Verify your Application ID is correct (18-19 digits, no extra spaces)
  • Try restarting both Discord and BenthonCord

My custom images aren't displaying

  • Ensure you've uploaded assets in the Discord Developer Portal
  • Check that asset names match exactly what you've entered in BenthonCord (case-sensitive)
  • Wait a few minutes after uploading assets - they may take time to propagate

Error: "Invalid Application ID"

  • Double-check you copied the entire Application ID
  • Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the ID
  • Verify the application still exists in your Developer Portal
